Everything you need to tell the story of Casa Ortensia.
Casa Ortensia is a small private house in Monteggio, in the Malcantone valley of Ticino, where the days follow the light, the meals follow the garden, and time is measured in shadows moving across the patio.
It was never built to be a hotel. It is a home — with a fenced garden for the dogs, an organic vegetable plot at the kitchen door, a covered patio with a charcoal grill, and an old camellia at the far end that has quietly become an installation of land art: the Wish Tree.
Guests come to slow down. Families, couples with dogs, and small groups gathering for yoga, mindfulness or a writing retreat. Chestnut forests, waterfalls and lakeside villages are minutes away, but the house holds its own gravity — most days begin and end on the patio.
This page collects the story, the images and the resources needed to tell it accurately.

What makes Casa Ortensia different.
Slow Living
A house designed around a slower rhythm — long breakfasts, unhurried afternoons, evenings by candlelight.
The Wish Tree
A site-specific land art installation among the camellias, where guests tie a red linen ribbon and a quiet intention.
Dog Friendly
A fully fenced private garden of 150 m² where dogs run free — no leash, no worry, no compromise.
Organic Garden
Tomatoes, herbs and seasonal vegetables grown a few steps from the kitchen — picked, washed, served the same afternoon.
Patio & Charcoal BBQ
A covered outdoor room with a charcoal grill — the true living room of Casa Ortensia from April to October.
Nature
Chestnut forests, waterfalls and quiet trails begin at the doorstep of the Malcantone valley.
Art
Original works and a landscape installation weave a discreet artistic thread through house and garden.
Small Retreats
The house welcomes intimate retreats of up to six guests — yoga, mindfulness, writing, photography, coaching.

A quiet act of art in the garden.
At the far end of the garden, beyond the hydrangeas, an old camellia has been turned into a site-specific landscape installation by the Swiss artist Ilaria Ratti Salvioni. A wooden platform, a Tibetan singing bowl, small bells and candles frame the tree and its red linen ribbons.
Each ribbon carries an intention — love, gratitude, health, family, transformation. Guests are invited to tie their own, in silence or together, and to leave it to the wind, the rain and the seasons.
It is not a decoration. It is a place — for reading, for meditation, for yoga at dawn, for sitting still.

Small by design. Never more than six.
Casa Ortensia is not a retreat centre. It is a private home that occasionally opens its doors to intimate gatherings — up to six guests, held by the garden and the quiet of the Malcantone.
Yoga, mindfulness, meditation, creative writing, photography, painting, coaching, small workshops. The scale is the point: everyone eats at the same table, everyone walks the same trails, everyone hears the bells at the Wish Tree.
Everything, in one place.
